3 Wheeler Fire Bike

Unveiled in the recent SCDF’s Workplan Seminar, the 3-Wheeler Bike is to replace the current fleet of operational bikes that the Force has. The 3-wheeler bike serves dual functions and is the first of its kind to be introduced in the world. This future bike will be equipped with fire-fighting and medical components, hence, enabling responders to provide swift fire-fighting services and/or medical attention. Leading by example, Commissioner SCDF spearheaded this innovative idea. The main objective is to add further stability and grip but maintaining the width of responding bikes so as to be able to negotiate through traffic congestions. Selection of the future 3-wheeler bike was through comparative studies, on the basis of vehicle dimensions, classification and storage space availability. The selected bike was put through various tests to ensure that it satisfies the demands of an emergency vehicle and it passed with excellent credentials. Responders operating the bike are now able to respond to fire and medical incidents. With the implementation of the bike, the Force will cut cost by reducing the number of bikes required as the need of separate bikes for fire-fighting and medical services are eliminated, ultimately reducing the Force’s carbon footprint.
